About Constance Avery-Clark

Constance Avery-Clark, Ph.D., Ph.D., has one doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern California. She has a second in Psychology–Jungian Studies at Saybrook University. She has lectured nationally on topics such as sexuality, intimacy, relationships, fathers and daughters, and questions of meaning, including an appearance on the Today Show.

Dr. Avery-Clark has been a practicing as a Licensed Psychologist for 40 years. She specializes in working with individuals and couples who have intimacy, relationship, anxiety, depressive, and meaning of life issues. Dr. Avery-Clark is an AASECT-Certified Diplomate of Sex Therapy, and a Certified Diplomate in Sexology through the American Board of Sexology.

Dr. Avery-Clark is a former Research and Clinical Associate at Masters & Johnson Institute where she was trained and worked directly with Dr. William Masters. She also trained under Albert Ellis, the originator of cognitive-behavioral therapy. She completed her second dissertation under the guidance of author and depth-oriented analyst, Dr. James Hollis.

She has co-authored an internationally acclaimed book, Sensate Focus in Sex Therapy: An Illustrated Manual, and has authored and co-authored numerous articles and a book chapter. She is currently writing a second book, The Erotic Connection: Sex Therapy (and More) for Everyone, about sex therapy and its connection with relationship, individual, and depth therapies/
